just for your more information, I always put 4.0litre of oil in for each oil change (spec said 4.5l). I know technically correct, but this is because engine oil in Thailand comes in a 4.0litre/gallon. Moreover, we put in 4.0litre and the dipstick would tell that the oil ‘almost’ meet MAX scale so I think it would be fine (or not?) I said ‘we’ because it’s often that the dealer also put in 4.0litre too because some customer resisting of buying one other 1 litre oil that would be used only 0.5 litre, but costs 1 full other litre… I don’t know if this likely cause the problem?

Again, I only put in either Mobil1 100% synthetic 5W-50 or Castrol 100% synthetic 0W-40, all SL grade, but 9 of 10 times Mobil1.

Saab dealers here in Thailand either use the semi-syn Shell’s 5W-50 SL grade or 100%syn 0W-40 SL grade.

My last time, the bearing failure happen just about FEW MILES (maybe 20 miles) after oil change.

Everytime the bearing went down it happened (also with the previous ‘94CSE) just after doing WOT for more than a minute.

The bearing failure always happen ON THE BEARING OF CYLINDER #2 or 3 ; that should say something about oil pressure drop in the crankshaft (the middle of crankshaft is where the lowest pressure would be IIRC) But I really don’t know what to do…

Anymore analyzing please! Thanks again!!
Colin
