had jeff here & solved the problem Posted by jak [Email] (#195) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jak) on Sat, 21 Jul 2007 15:00:08 In Reply to: jeff is coming saturday, jak [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 19 Jul 2007 08:30:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I checked fuel pressure & exhaust back pressure & everything I could think of. I also changed the PCV chec valve as his was leaking a bit
driving the car it would miss after a good heat soak (hard on the throttle in second & 1/2 way thru third very consistant easy to reproduce symptom
I put the first file I did for him in & the car ran great
what was happening was that the car was making a tad more boost then the T7 would allow safely with the compression ratio of the B205L the B205R has no problem with 26 PSI ....
so the boost fuel adapt map stepped in & dumped fuel at it as it should to keep pre ignition down & this caused the miss
in the end what I did was make a file about 1/2 way between the conservative & the aggressive files I had done for him which made about 22 lbs of boost & dident heatsoak the engine & the air fuel mix stayed nice & consistant
so I guess you could say it was the SW causing the problem & that a little more custom tuning was needed to ride the very edge of what the car would put up with but I had sold a nice staged tune to begin with
I personally liked the more conservative file but jeff wanted a bit more torque & with the car here it was easy to give :-)
take care
