92mm Pistons Ordered Posted by BradW [Email] In Reply to: Re: Parts Shopping, BradW |
So we defaulted to 92mm pistons, the Mahles with conrods included, that are offered from SweedSpeed. They're also of a dimension that yields a 10.5:1 compression ratio. I was really itching for those 94mm bores, but the votes seemed to be coming in half for/half against. Mark Ashcraft said 94mm was doable but was more of a "one use race engine." Would have loved to up the displacement to 1850cc but also need this beast to be a daily driver.
So we have a plan:
Bore to 92mm, Mahle pistons and conrods
.10" over on the crank
big valves and stiff springs, 44mm exhaust porting (guess that means we'll also have to do a 2" exhaust all the way back)
aluminum timing gears
high flow oil pump
7.6 cam
We already have the double barrel Weber and manifold installed.
So a sporty street engine that can rev to 6,500 and still be drivable, putting out 125hp
Going to keep the ignition mechanical for the time being
