"Never have more kids than you have parents, is my rule. We stopped at 2. I'm also a fan of wagons, but 5 people in a 9-5 is tough if the ones in the back seat are older than 10. Still, they're a whole lot cooler than minivans, and SUVs are a waste of sheetmetal, plastic and iron. IMHO, in the US people have to get over this consumerist bigger is better and too much is never enough attitude."
Why stop at 2? Why not 1? why not Zero? We have CAFE standards to thank for the near-extinction of wagons in the US. The car-based SUV's are nothing more than wagons dressed up to get around CAFE road-block; we have all the busy-bodies with a penchant for minding other people's business to thank for that.
As for waste of sheet metal and fuel, some people may think all the jet airliner devoted to international tourist travel is a waste of sheet metal and fuel . . . so is electricity devoted to trying to impose one's own subjective values onto others.
