New engine technologies from Saab both in diesel and gasoline promise much in fuel and emissions savings with no loss of power.
Saab will be there competing, of that you can be sure.
Beyond hydrocarbons, I think you need to look at GM's cell plans. I recall they were jumping into a hydrogen extraction program from hydrocarbons with Exxon. You can get hydrogen to power up cells from water. Why they'd go with hydrocarbons over water at GM is beyond me.
