Weirdly ABS has never actually proven to save lives or prevent accidents. I know this is counter intuitive as clearly a car with ABS is more controllable under panic braking. I'm not sure if people now just steer into something else to avoid an accident or what. Stability control has been proven to be a massive safety feature, which is why it is soon to required on all cars (yes, I know it would exist without ABS). If you ever have a chance to drive a car with modern stability control in a wet, empty parking lot, try it. It really makes a car hard to lose control of if you're at all within the realm of physics, which is surely a good thing for a new driver. As for rollovers, no modern car will roll on the road, the issue is if you catch a berm or ditch a top heavy car is more likely to flip. That's just physics, and while at this point you're likely crashing to some degree anyway it could turn a spin into a median into a serious injury.
