It's been a while since I did this. My mistake was installing the GM version of TIS rather than the Saab specific one. I forget how the patch worked but I am sure you do not need any kind of security dongle (USB or Parallel) once it is patched. There should be some old threads on how to do this. I'm pretty sure I used XP to reduce the potential for drama.

I would not necessarily bet that the TIS/Patch that came with the clone Tech2 is correct.

For XP, I thought there were plenty of ISO's out on the web now. Obviously, these are a bit of a security risk but not as bad as connecting and XP machine to the internet! Installing off a USB vs a CD is BIOS dependent and not the OS. Very old ones will need a physical drive. If you don't have a serial port your computer is probably modern enough to use a USB drive.

It will work in the end - even though it is annoying.
