I know this has been discussed recently, but I am still a bit confused on what can and can't be done with generic OBD-II bluetooth to phone tools (for relatively cheap... maybe as low as $20 on ebay) vs the "Chinese knockoff" Tech2 scanners.

A previous suggestion on the board was the chinacardiags site's "2023 Vetronix GM Tech 2 SAAB Tech2 Diagnostic Scanner with Candi + tis2000 Saab Tech2 for GM/SAAB/OPEL/SUZUKI/ISUZU/ Holden+Free Ship" device (currently for $352).

Is the "GM Tech 2 32MB Card For (GM,OPEL,SAAB,ISUZU,Holden,SUZUKI) Pcmcia Memory Card With Latest Software" item addon also needed? It is only a $26 addon?

To program a new key fob, for example, is the Tech2 needed? I do have a CEL on (I was told it was emissions related) that I need to check and reset (could be done at Advanced Auto but I figure this may take some time / repetition to diagonse, and even though this is my first 9-3 it may likely not be my last :-)

So what else can the Tech2 do that would be valuable to have one for?
