I don't get it Posted by adl6009 [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Oh, adl6009 ![]() |
I am not sure if this motor and the rod it moves is what is causing the problem. I ran the car and manually moved the rod, the air blew from the floor vent, dash vents and then the defroster vents. Moving the connecting rod had no effect on the temp of the air. Then I checked the temp of the air when I set the temp setting to low ac and cold ac air blew, set it to Hi and warm air blew, set it below Hi and cool, not ac and not hot, air came out. When set to Hi the heated air should have been warmer, but it was still warm. This was all with the motor not installed.
I checked the plastic arm, driven by the motor, and did not see any obvious cracks. This whole unit is just 4 years old with probably no more than 14k miles on it.
Now I am wondering if there is some other cause for the problem. What does the temp setting control to change the air temp? Could it be something like the heater bypass valve? Both pipes on the pass floor get hot so I think hot water getting through the system. One other symptom that's been forgotten is I noticed the driver side carpet is wet. I originally suspected the sunroof drain as we had rain recently, I cleaned them and tested, water did drain through.
Thanks, pme, for sticking with me on this.
