Hey there Justin, hope you're still looking at this post!
Thanks for sticking with me this far. Here's what I've done today (on lunch); I pulled the two relays out of my '91 parts car. Went to take the three screws out that hold the ECU into the '88 vert, (to make relay access easier) and when I moved it aside there was a single orange wire with a white plastic connecter that sits just forward of the ECU, (towards the firewall). That white connector was disconected . Perhaps it happened when I pulled the rug out. As I said, I never saw that until I dropped the ECU down.I obviously reconnected that as soon as I saw it. While I was already there, I changed out both relays. I reached over and turned the key......still nothing as far as fuel pump activity and obviously still no start.
I go look around under the hood again. Re-check ALL grounds visually. They are tight and secure.(I will check grounds for actual "ground" with a test light on tomorrow's lunch). While I was looking around I discovered that little black plastic two terminal box at the top of the right side shock tower. I popped the cap off of that and lo and behold, both 10mm terminal bolts were loose! I tighten them up, put my jumper back on for the fuel pump and....STILL NO FUEL AND NO START. I'm sorry, did I yell there, I apologize....
While I was cranking it over this time I did notice something that perhaps is an indicator of something...no tach activity during engine turnover. Is that normal? I never paid attention to the tach when I'm hitting the ignition switch in any of my Saabs over the years. I do have another ECU in the '91 parts car, (rear collision damage killed that car). If you say they are similar enough to swap, I will swap that out tomorrow and see where that gets me. I keep thinking that this is all kind of weird that I have this going on at all. Sitting a year could kill an ECU?? When I finally do find the culprit, I'm sure it will make perfect sense, but right now.....Not so much. Cheers, Bob T.
