If you can get the fuel pump to run manually and develop pressure, then you know straight away your problem at least involves the ECU not energizing the fuel pump relay or the relay itself being faulty. Since leaving it jumpered and cranking it still gets no start, that points the finger at the tach signal not making it to the relay - that would explain both no fuel pump and no injector action. That could be bad connections to the ECU or a faulty ECU.
If replacing the relays doesn't help, I would probably look to swapping the ECU out. Any LH 2.2 ECU will plug in and at least fire the car up, so you've got plenty of options. You can go through the pins with a multimeter, but that's a big pain.
Are you sure the lifting eye is grounded to the motor? I'm imagining you painted both sides of that eye black, and maybe there is insufficient metal to metal contact there. We know you have power, but ground is equally important. If you happen to have an LED injector tester, that might give some good additional info (though probably won't reveal anything you don't already know).
