is just another fine tuner of the fuel control pressure. If you disconnect the wiring to it, and set the fuel mixture you can run without it (assuming you have no cat convertor) But if you leave it hooked up you can have problems if the o2 sensor is funky. For testing a beater I would just unplug it so that is is not causing issues.
