I have been burning through what material I can find regarding this CIS stuff. On this distributor, as I see it (and I could be wrong for sure) the upper four chambers fill with pressurized fuel delivered by that fancy plunger - then, the fuel has to pass by basically a surface to surface spring loaded valve system the spring pushes a washer looking cap with a smooth machined face against the smooth diaphragm. The screw I was referring to does seem to push down on the spring increasing its surface pressure against the diaphragm. It's that spring vs. chamber pressure that seem to control the fuel flow up and out of the distributor. Or - maybe its intent is a check valve to insure the feed lines to the injectors don't drain back and remain full if other parts of the system loose pressure.
I played a bit with the problematic lines screw and it didn't fix or change the behavior. //so, I have all the parts from another distributor and I am in the process of doing a Gilligan's Island style rebuild today. Maybe I will get lucky before I open the one I worked on last week or before I go and just buy a ready to go unit from Saab directly... oh, wait...
