Thank you for the info - it's great to have a community that shares what they've learned.
Yes, the lights are US-Dot. I bought the pair of lights from Superbright, installed one with the resistor, when the white film occurred over 30 seconds or so. Driving at night the visibility was extremely poor and makes me nervous due to the abundance of deer.
