Since when is it necessary to sample the oxygen in the atmosphere? Hey boys guess what, it is the same concentration the world over, the air has been mixing for millions of years and there is no difference in free air here or in any of the other areas on earth. The O2 % level is a standard used world wide as a reference. IT DOESN'T CHANGE except in a closed container (room, box, whatever) if something is dithering with the mix. The Stainless wires are hi temp and either should be crimped, spot welded, or silver soldered. They are figured in the resultant microvolt signal from the oxygen sensor (it is a fuel cell which is a proportional voltage producer related to O2 exposure). Somethings don't lead/tin solder well. Silver soldering works well in most of those cases. Maybe 97 didn't quite understand that the sensor is sampling the exhaust to be compared with a known reference.
