If two dissimilar metals come into contact they will generate a tiny electrical potential. This is how a thermocouple works. If the wires being spliced are intercepted and joined with a crimping splice (butt or quick disconnects) there will be a minute (millivolts) signal adding into the wire run. If the wires were stripped back sufficient to allow a running twist like a Western Union Splice and a large barrel splice slipped onto the wrap area, then smashed or a short wire nut type twist of 1.5 cm and then crimped with a barrel this will keep the wires away from being in a generating position with foreign metal chemistry.
This way any false biasing of the mV signal back to the sensing amplifier will not be present.
