You are smart taking it out the top. Just remove 1) false firewall panel and 2) 'dogbone' upper engine mount. It just kind of rolls out.
Much easier than out the 'side' like I did on my first alt swap on my ol 92 9000.
I hope the reman unit has a new commutator. If not- ?????? on its lifespan.
