When you go to reinstall, first buy a good set of metric ball-end hex keys and you'll find you have a lot of angle options that let you spin the bolts in or out once broken free.
Also, now while it's out, oil up the threads and run those bolts in and out so when you're doing the install they will turn totally easy.
And, you may or may not know to press in the little sleeve on the alternator so it slides into the bracket easily. Tightening bolt presses it back out to fill the space on install. (Or, is the sleeve on the bracket? Anyway...)
Glad you made it all the way home, and kind of amazed. You couldn't pull that with an older battery. Fuel pump and electronics draw a fair amount of current, and add in the lights and it really sucks things down fast. Buy a lottery ticket while you're in that good-luck zone.
