F1,WRC,NHRA, NASCAR ect. racing engines are designed for the most performance acheivable given the design and rule criteria - no expense spared. Meaning if they can get X more HP's out of the thing but it will last one race so be it,(yes racing and redlining is hard are engines) and even a must to competitive.
Now street cars are a different matter, yes the Viggen is a High Performance car engineered to run probably 200,000 miles. Should you then daily be banging the thing off red line? I doubt it, I sure don't and why, max tourque is from 2500 to 4500 RPM's. Does the Viggen have weak pistons in the M/Y 99, most likely since they changed the part# in 00 or 01. Use'm don't abuse'm!
