This is a tough one. You mentioned your wife having the oil changed, but does she remember when and whether they change the oil filter as the oil filter holds a fair amount of oil. If the oil shop drained the oil (forgot to fill it back up) and did not do the filter then there is a small chance that you have been running on what was left in the oil filter and any other oil that might have been present. Most oil shops do not wait very long for all the oil to drain out so in theory she could have been running on maybe 1.5 quarts give or take. Can a car run long on that little of oil, I have no idea. Not sure where you live, but if it’s cold then that would also contribute to the car lasting until now, and how many miles does she drive per trip? These are all guesses on my part, and I highly doubt the body shop touched your oil drain plug.
