Well, I could have swore he said it was a "new" block they had to get. I'm going to get this cleared up for sure tomorrow. Wouldn't anything other than a new block cost a heck of a lot less than $525 (orig 650)? They call it a "core charge" because the old block is "not useable". I wonder if they are hoping customers don't think of stuff like this.

The "damage" to the block as best I can describe. It was some sort of "bearing failure" and they are replacing two of the four pistons I think. When I looked at the block it appears there is bad grind on one of the curved surfaces next to the outer piston. Apparently, this was where the failed bearing was. They said this kind of damage they couldn't machine out - so the need for a new block.

About the WARRANTY. They refer to everything as "long blocks" so I better make sure that's what they are putting in. I still don't know the difference.

says:

"A long block for the purposes of this agreement includes the following parts only: crankshaft, connecting rods, camshaft, pistons, piston rings, lifters, timing chain, timing gears, push rods, main bearings, camshaft bearings, engine block and cylinder head assemblies"

Accoding to what I read, it says they will warrant those parts with some exceptions about overheating, abuse, etc. up to 2 years or 24K miles.

They are probably going to get p i ssed back at me for grilling them on this stuff but my point is since they are insisting on ripping me off on price I want to now make sure I'm getting what I pay for. I wanna make ssure that clutch is correct and new too. Also the water pump. Can I check for that?
