Take your car to the Indy that was suggested to you. To much of what I have read from your posts, the business model employeed by this company, and the questionable reputation courtesy of BBB research just raises to many red flags to trust.
I have known of no shop to flat out turn down parts supplied by the customer. I've always been told if I do that then there is no warranty on the work they do and I sign an agreement to that fact as a courtesy of proof.
I'm an accountant by my studies at college fresh from graduation. In this case your $1500 is a sunk cost. Yes I said it. A SUNK COST. It hurts to have to swallow that $1500 dollars as being lost and having to start from scratch but this makes it a lesson learned. Know the shop before you go.
Pack it up, move onto the recommended Indy from your original thread, spend probably at most 2500 to 3000 at his shop and come out ahead versus another 4500 at this rip off shop. I've got the 100% gut feeling the extra cost of the other parts they gave you has the labor as if it was a seperate job after doing the rebuild (pull it apart again). Shops like this one your dealing with are used to nickel and diming the people that see cars as cars and only bring them in for the emergency repair.
You are a SAAB enthusiast and know more about the car then most ASE certified mechanics. If you stay here you will only regret the choice further down the road.
