A complete ripoff or a even remotely fair price? Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Tue, 10 Feb 2009 13:46:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A few threads down you can find my saga on this engine rebuild - or how I got to where I am now. Long story short, I'm about to sign for the remaining balance on this engine "rebuild" on a 2000 9-3 with about 82K miles. I thought I'd create another thread just to see if I could get a response on this latest number. I called them up again, and they still won't budge any further on the price. Keep in mind, I'm still basically out $1500 for nothing if I decide to try to go down there and "box up" my car from all the shelves they have it laying on and take it to another place.
This seems to be the best they would do. Also, I got them to take credit card for the remaining balance.
TOTAL: Close to $4500 (with tax) :(
In a nutshell they are doing:
Engine "rebuild" including the new block
Water pump
Clutch and slave cylinder
Rest of job , re-assembly and bolt replacement
I still think it's too high. I haven't signed the paper they faxed over. I told them I couldn't go over $4000 and this is where they pushed me. I did it this way with the clutch because it's worn out and is supposed to be cheaper to do now with the engine out. They are still claiming this rebuild with their warranty is superior to a used engine. In any case, I simply don't want to scrap the car. I've got too much into it already so it's just a matter of should I sign on this or try to do things the harder way and get it to another Indy.
