Lots of under 20K cars are wagonlets or hatches (but no automaker uses this term)

Ford Focus ZX3/5
Honda Civic Si
Subaru Impreza/WRX
Mazda Protege 5
Suzuki Aerio
Hyundai Elantra GT
Toyota Matrix / Pontiac Vibe
Volkswagon Golf / New Beetle
Mini Cooper
Mercedes C-Class

All these are designed to appeal to younger buyers. I certainly love Hatches, its not a Saab without a hatch or a wagon. I don't know why they can't offer the new 9-3 in Saab traditional form as well as market appealing sedan. What have they got to lose, certainly not money at this point.
