My wife and I went to Europe for 2 weeks for our honeymoon. We did a 2nd honeymoon (read: wonderful vacation) in Costa Rica. Good flight prices are out there for the saavy shopper. The condo deal sounds great, too.
Another option is B&B's. You can get excellent deals (often better than hotels by 20-30%) with a very personal and romantic touch. I can't say enough good things about my B&B experience, especially on Toronto/Montreal/Vermont/Maine trip we did 2 years ago.
In Europe you can get great deals on pensions. They're somehwere between a formal hotel, a guesthouse/inn, and hostel. Probably best described a a guesthouse. But also there are B&B's.
Here's my take on things... I love to travel, it's in my blood. This is your honeymoon - once in a lifetime. Do it up right! Don't worry about passports and money exchange. They're really no big deal.
If you like the outdoors: Germany, Switzlerland, and Austria will offer superb hiking. I even did a parasailing thing on my honeymoon in Interlachen Switzerland. Costa Rica is beautiful for beaches, wildlife, hiking, and plants. I'm told Belize is very similar to Costa Rica, too. Also, Canada is pretty. Good lakes, cabins/cottages, and outdoors stuff. If you're a fan of donuts or poutine, Canada is the place for you!
No one will remember the flavor of your wedding cake, the color of the ribbons at the ceremony, or some of the other things you will fret over in wedding planning. Focus on 2 things... Get a good photographer and don't mess around. You'll have those pictures for life. And plan a honeymoon you'll remember for life. A good band or DJ will spice up the party, too.
