I think Sedona, Arizona would be something you would really enjoy. There is plenty of hiking and small shops to bum around in.
Great trails, views and fresh air. Very laid back and kinda quiet at night. Fly into flagstaff and rent a car to Sedona, not too far. If you are looking to have a very relaxing honeymoon, this is the place.
European travel has become easier with the euro, but I have been to Germany twice, and would be alittle aprehensive to go at it alone. My wife is from there, so it wasn't as hard, but I would be stressed if I had to travel with the lack of language, but that is just me.
good luck and congrats!!!
