Here in Maine the deposit systems seems a little different than what you explained in CT.
We can return any bottle to any store, and we even have some places that are only "redemption" center. The way it works for the store is if you are an actual "redemption" center the state gives you 6 cents back for every 5 cent bottle they return. The state gets all the money whether you return the bottles or not.
We always have the hockey or cheering team doing bottle drives in my town. So i got friendly with a couple of the kids around that play hockey and ever few weeks they came over and take the cans for me. No work for me and the kids get something out of it also.
