Many years ago (mid-80's?) the Boston Globe got thier hands on a radar gun and set up on the side of I-95 near the NH border. Spent quite a bit of time clocking different models of cars. Guess what? Saabs were the fastest!

Also here's an interesting data point on Subarus: recently my wife traded her 9-5 in on an Outback wagon. A couple weeks after she got it we were driving home from dinner on a road we both frequently travel. She was having fun going thru the twists and turns, and commented that she thought the new car handled as well as her old one. Until I pointed out she was driving 35 on the same road that she used to take at 45 in the Saab!
