Well, of course it is the driver, JD.
But some marques and types of vehicles *do* seem to attract people likely to exhibit more bad/dangerous/obnoxious behavior than others, as indicated by the length of this thread, and its comments--and is why I first posed the question.

But as for owning a truck for home owner chores, I've been there and done that (Chevy S10). I replaced it with a good utility trailer that holds 2000 pounds and tows fine behind my Saab 9000 and my wife's Exploder (which is mostly too big.) It is far easier to deal with, costs nothing to insure, uses no gas, and cost $28 a year to register. Each to his own, I guess.

Still individual need drives a lot of the decision. We got the Exploder because a daughter did dog shows and we couldn't get 2-3 dogs, 3 kids, 2 adults and assorted support stuff into a wagon for a show 3 hours away. Will be dumping it in another year or so, going to a wagon.
