But have trucks and SUVs gotten TOO big?

They do seem to get bigger each year. It's like the horsepower races in the 60s.
At what point is a truck too big? Or a car for that matter? Many trucks made today won't fit in the garages of the average house. Which is why you see many new houses built with 8 or 9 or even 10 foot high garage doors.
There are precious few reasons for anyone who doesn't need a huge truck for business to have one. Towing a boat is probably one (but then I'm opposed to most powerboats, too). But there seem to be an awful lot of people who buy way more vehicle than they need to keep up appearances, feed their egos, etc. Of course it's always been this way....
There are times when I wish gas would go to $4/gallon and begin to get the oversized machines off the road. It would have the added benefit of maing the roads a bit safer, although it will take a decade to eliminate the things even if gas were to go to $5 tomorrow.
Just my usual $0.05 of opinion! Sorry to rant.
Noel
