The dealer at which I purchased my car is giving me real headaches. I'll break down the story for all of you guys:
I went in at the end of November to test drive a car I wanted ('03 Vector). It was in CT at Saab of Milford which was over 150 miles from where I live, but I went there because I liked that specific car (color, transmission type, etc). Anyway, the car wsa supposed to be ready that day, and if I liked it, I was going to buy it. Well, I loved it, but the car "wasn't ready". Hadn't gone through CPO inspection / etc. I wish I'd known that prior to burning an entire Saturday driving 300 miles. He said the car would be ready the following weekend. OK, I coud live with that.
I go back the next weekend, expecting the car to be ready, and surprise, when I arrive the car is still not ready. I would've liked a phone call so I couldn't come down when the car was ready. Needed a new SID because of burnt-out pixels, plus he mentioned about a half dozen other things they were going to take care of for me (Aux-In install, express window roll up setting up, touch up paint in some areas, etc.). Stuff he knew about when I came down the first time a week earlier.
I bought the car and took it home anyways, and the dealer told me that he would set up an appoingment the following weekend for me to take the car down to get that stuff done to it. I told him that I wanted gas money and lunch money for the hassle, and for taking 5 hours out of my third weekend in a row. He told me I was "crazy" and the owner of the dealership also told me personally over the phone that his sales manager would have to be "stupid" to give me money for gas. He suggested I bring the car somewhere closer to home to have these items taken care of.
OK, so I suggest Wigwam Saab, which is pretty close to where I live. That's fine. I get an appointment at Wigwam Saab and bring my car there, expecting the dealers ironed out the details between themselves.
Wigwam Saab calls me today and says everything was taken care of and I could pick up my car tonigth at the cost of $380.
What??!!! I had an oil change done which was about 75$, but where is all that extra? Well, the MP3 player is $175 (programming 50$, part $25, labor 100$), programming express windows and disabling DRL's was another $50, I odnt know where the extra is.
Anyways, the point is that the other dealer should foot the bill, because they were supposed to do this stuff for me to begin with. Now, I will have to pay to pick up my car at Wigwam, then get in a contest with Saab of Milford. Unfortunately, I have nothing in writing with saab of milford, it was just stuff they said they would do. I hadn't anticipated a problem so I never bothered to get a written statement.
Darnit.
