laying the non-faced batts perpendicular to the joists. IT is tough to wade through all of the options..you get differnet advice everywhere you turn. I don't really want to use the non-faced batts on the kneewalls, because i think it would compress it too much to get it nailed on the studs. I was looking at "Foamular" from pink panther. 3/4 inch sheets.
I do have the grey cellulose fiber stuff, and I am not getting rid of it. I am selling this place in 2 years. I don't really want the hassle of blowing more of that stuff in.
I do wear a painter-quality respirator in the attic, trust me.
I thought that you could use a board insulation on the knee walls if the inside of the house was finished (drywalled). ?
I am fighting the design of the house really, the roof is so close to the ceiling its a hothouse in the summer and cold in the winter.
I checked, and I don't have soffit vents (boo), i have ridge and gable, but it's in the part of the attic that is over the ceiling and not accessable in the crawlspace. I am thinking I need to vent that crawlspace (behind the kneewalls) also. Turbine vent?
Sometimes I wish I was an engineer instead of an administrator....
Thanks everyone
Chris
