Should I contest?

I have many different ways of looking at this situation...

I-64 eastbound through the town of Nitro, West Virginia

It all started coming around a turn going uphill at a decent grade on the interstate. I was in my 87 900s Light Pressure Turbo with auto to manual conversion. I was pushing around 85 through the turn, and the speedlimit was 70. As soon as i came around the turn i noticed the reflection of the police officers side turn signals. I jammed the brakes and brought the car to 70 even faster than I even though possible.

About 1/2 mile later, *WHOOP WHOOP*

I pull over, licence and registration, all that good stuff, officer informs me that I was doing 83.

Comes back to the window about five minutes later with a speeding ticket for 74 in a 70. Tells me how much of a break he's giving me, and lets me go on my way....

Here are key points i think i should argue.

1. In this state, i'm almost positive that an officer must have his corner lights on (the yellow side markers beside headlights) to be clocking you with radar. The cop had NO lights on whatsoever.

2. He was a local city of Nitro cop. When he actually pulled me over, I had crossed county line into a different county and out of the town of Nitro. Pretty sure this is legal, but still an odd point

3. I have never had a ticket or any bad marks on my driving record. Only accident I have been in was deemed the other drivers fault.

4. I could also give the court the vin from the car, and inform them that it would be near impossible for a 900s 3 speed auto with around 125bhp to be doing that kind of speed on that steep of a grade. I don't believe that would actually ask to see my car or view what kind of modifications it has.

5. The ticket says my court date is tomorrow at 6 pm!!! WTF!!!! Not even a weeks notice, but tomorrow? come on now!

6. If I do contest, should I ask for info about the radar gun used to get me, the range on it, and how it calculates? I was a good 70 yards away from the cop when I had slowed to 70.

Also, one other question, I read somewhere that I have the right to appeal via mail and never appear in court. It is quite a long drive from where I live to where I would need to attend court. Is this an option?

Thanks in advance,
Chadwick
