While you and I may think that speeding and being responsibile have no relation, I hopw we agree that breaking the rules and paying the price is a part of being a responsible person.
Yes, the speed laws have more to do with generating revenue than safety. The lowest denominator is that some people can not judge what a "safe" speed is and the state has to tell us what that speed is. You may be a better driver, you may think that speed is too slow, but the fact is that the speed limit is the law, and everytime you knowingly exceed that, you should do so with the knowledge that you are breaking the law and are willing to accept the repercussions for your action.
The reason I came down so hard on Chadwick is that he admitted to speeding, then wanted to squirm out of his fine. That's dishonesty, plain and simple. It's one thing if he said he was going 71 and got ticketed for going 74, but to admit that you're speeding and then trying to weasel out is pretty low.
