but would probably have been just as happy with the Canon. The Nikon D50 (with the two lenses you note) just felt better to me. Plus I've had Nikons for 25 years, (almost as long as I've had Saabs!).
I looked on DPreviews and also Stevesdigicams.com. Both great info.
I've had the D50 since Christmas and it's used for business and family photography. Always excellent shots. Automatic gives good results everytime. I use program mode a lot, which gives me some additional adjustment w/out losing some auto features.
You won't go wrong with any of them.
However, Mike Lynch has a very good point that for many (most) uses a point and shoot will give similar results. I wanted to be able to shoot 2.5 shots per second, have near zero shutter delay and needed a more potent flash than what comes on a point and shoot, but those were specific things I needed for business use. I'm actually buying another cam as back up and it will be a P & S model.
