I have the D70s with its pretty good kit zoom lens. The kit lenses are much like have a very good zoom point and shoot. But, the kit lenses do not permit low light shooting very well, Nikon or Canon. I actually went out an got a 50 mm 1.4 fixed length lens, like a 75mm on the DSLR. I love it. For available light shots, with the camera's ability to shift sensitivity for individual shots, I am getting shots that no kit lens can match. If I get another zoom, it will be much faster than any of the kit lenses. Why only have the ability of a good point and shoot?
