.....loved them all, especially the last, a '91 platana gray 5sp turbo..spent a ton of $$$ keeping it going. In the final analysis, it wasn't the $$$ but the time. About a year ago, I was surprised with a 3 mo old baby boy to raise. I'm 60, and while I'm enjoying everyday of this challenge, I simply don't have the luxury of monthly visits to the Saab Doc.
I will always regret selling "Traaveler", but a young man took to him immeadiately. I only hope he keeps up the good fight! I have said many times, on this board and others, that the 9000 was the BEST sports sedan ever built by anyone. I would buy another Saab tommorrow if there was one. The cuurent crop is not in the same league as the 9000.
I leased an Infiniti M35. Go sit in one and see if it doesn't remind you of a 9000...just a little. Its huge inside with a very tall seat position. It's Infinti fancy and 10 years newer, but it is a big comfortable sports sedan...and much fun to drive. It also requires very little time away from home to keep going. The 9-5 and 9-3 don't compare to either my new car or my old... in any way...that is my point.
Saab was Car and Drivers sports sedan of the decade (eighties), then along came GM. I will own another 9000 and a c900 convert when I can. I will also hope for and long for the return of the Saab that was really different. There is no doubt it can be built, and be reliable. I just don't think GM will have anything to do with it.
That's my opinion. I hope you can keep your 9000 going for another 10 years. Thanks for hearing me out.
