A big part of what car to buy is an economic decision. Cheap to keep is a valid issue. Although swe just got an '03 9-5 wagon, I do worry a bit about reliabilty (altho 02 and later are said to be quite relaible). But I tend to over-maintain cars, and it is a CPO car and I have a very reliable indy when the CPO goes away. And I'm a decent DIY wrench..and at 56 still like to do the work.
I still prefer Saabs over anything else, and will continue with them as long as they build something I enjoy and that fits what I need. If they don't become Chvey's or other mainstream GM boxes I'll be happy. If they turn vanilla and boring I'll stop. Right now the Saab habit is hard to break.
