The Graduate in 65 said it all, and it is even more applicable today. Composites are simply driving the aerospace industry. Carbon composites are gold. carbon fiber is in short supply and companies are gearing up to fill the shortage with increased production. It isn't all in fishing rods and chinese made bicycles. Get a free subscription to Composites World and check it out.
There are some environmental issues with the composites (A#R$E$A 5$1$) and burning/disposing but I think the aerospace industry will work them out. Big bucks as installation/facility engineer as these factories are brought on line. Check out Harper International for carbon fiber furnaces.
