What a sissy... So that basically averages out to around 20 extra hours a week in a 40 hour work week. Um.. I don't try, but easily do 60 hour work weeks as normal and usually let my 6 weeks vacation expire unused every year.
My poor wife in the mortage business (which has an extremely high unemployment rate at the moment) puts in 15 hr days and works 6 days a week. Right now, she (and her co-workers) do it out of fear of losing their jobs since replacements are easy and layoffs are a weekly event.
There isn't so much a "lack of concern" from companies as much as internal employee struggles to make themselves more valuable (hence less disposable) to their employers.
