It's true that the definition of overwork is open to interpretation and varies in degree. I guess when people sign up for jobs in which they are "overworked," they do so out of either need or greed. Some people have no choice, (as in developing countries where going hungry is the other alternative). Others in more developed countries either want power, more money, or they like working long hours. Some of us are slaves to greed.
I believe that we should judge companies on how they treat their employees. If we don't, when we buy products, we could be funding mistreatment of humans to line others' pockets. It's just like the labor practices for clothing companies who have factories in other countries. Long hours of child labor in unsafe conditions should not be condoned or supported. A company that stresses and works numerous white collar adults to death is not much different.
