A lot of basic mechanical stuff will remain but it will be harder to DIY anything more than that.
The question is whether the manufacturers will share knowledge and diagnostic tools. Dealers don't have the capacity to service every car they sell in a timely manner, so some sharing of info has to take place. Some manufacturers are hard to get info out of, I'm told, and Saab and Volvo are particularly bad about that, or so I hear from some indy techs.
What I worry about is whether all the electronic high tech gizmos keep working. My tendency is to guess they won't, which can make it expensive (or all but impossible)to keep a car a long time, as many here seem to do. I got 20 years out of my '84 C900. Will I run the '03 9-5 until 2023? Somehow I doubt it.
