felt less reliable when I bought it, and I thought each would not last nearly so long as the others, would not be able to take the abuse I give them (Alaska is rough on cars) and I would not be able to do nearly so much maintenance myself.
Alas, I have been wrong on all counts. Agreeably, I don't drive quite so aggressively as I did 30 years ago in my '70 95 wagon. Nor do I DIY on quite so many things as I once did, but that is by choice. As the technology has gotten more pronounced, along comes Saabnet to help me with at least some of the things I try to do. I expect this trend to continue.
FWIW, my only "bad" Saab was a '94 900SE V-6. The engine self destructed 2000 miles after the 30 k service. After it was repaired on warranty, taking 2 months while I had a new 93 loaner, I sold it for a used 9-3.
