Wow, still trying to wrap my mind around a kitchen remodels that costs more than my house! Anyway, I did ours, 100% DIY, down to the studs and back out again. Nothing really fancy, but a great looking kitchen now. The biggest piece of advice I have (not already mentioned)is to use ceramic tile on the floor, we love it. I replaced a total of 4 different floor treatments in the entryway, kitchen, dining area, and hallways with 12X12 tiles on cement backer board. It really brought things together, it is easy to clean (our dogs live with us in the house most of the time), and the mottled earth tones don't show dirt easily. I also did counter tops and back splash with granite 12X12 tile. Not as great as a solid piece, but very nice looking and durable at a very reasonable cost.
