YES!
What is really important? A car, after all is just a mode of transportation. It can be fun or not, practical or not.
Bells and whistles do not make for a better car. They just help sell more cars to people who want a family room on wheels or who think of a car as a rolling entertainment center.
What makes a good car: A lot of the stuff most of us Saab-guys seem to like: Long-lived engines, durability, all-around good handling and performance, safety (kind of a given these days), comfortable seats, good climate control and maybe a sunroof and decent stereo. That's about it. And probably reasonable for DIY repairs.
But you look at all the junk on cars now: rear view cameras, nav systems, tire pressure monitors, power fold down rear seats, power hatches and sliding doors, 50 GB hard drives, DVD players. OnStar. Geez! None of it makes the car any better at being a machine to move one around.
