hitting the wrong pedal. It seems more common when someone is unfamiliar with the car or wearing wide shoes in a car with narrow pedal spacing.
The Lexus issue is obviously the mats, but it's the inability to turn off the car that is scary. OK it's set up that way so a kid can't do it while mom or dad is driving, but it should have an override or as Mike suggests, there should be a kill switch. And it wouldn't surprise me to see changes made, given Lexus is a Toyota product. (of course, if this was an issue in a German car, the automaker would blame the driver and not fix anything.)
The keyless thing is convenient, but that's all it is. Just another gimmick of limited value, IMHO. I've used it in a Nissan, but it's no big deal.
Just curious... in a car you're unfamiliar with, like a rental late at night in a strange city. Has anyone ever hit the wrong pedal?
