On the newer Volvo's, roughly 99 and up, they come with 2 or 3 different brake system and is is "determined" by 15, 16 or 17" rims which brake system they have.
Never, never, ever, ever does the rim size for sure tell you what brakes the car have, it's just a joke.
You don't know until you take the rims off and measure the brake rotor which is what their parts catalog says to do.
Last week I had an XC90 in with 5 cyl engine and 2-wheel drive (the smallest simplest model of them) and it had the big brakes installed and another time it was a XC90 with the twin turbo 6 and AWD (the big bad one) and it had the smaller brakes, go figure, and both of them used 18" rims not the 16 and 17" as what the Volvo parts catalog only option are.
So why they have different brake size and what determines which car they put them on is beyond me.
