Go to Auto Zone or Advanced and get some DOT 4 brake fluid. You'll need a liter and it will set you back maybe $8. You may be able to rent or borrow a bleeder (either pressure or vacuum) from the parts place.
You may have just had brake fade, but you can have both brake fade and boiled fluid. Because you couldn't hold the car on a sloped driveway I do think boiled fluid is a possibility. Depending on how much it boiled the pedal may not feel all that spongy, and the car is often still quite drivable. I drove my 9K for 2-3 days before I flushed after a track day last summer. The brakes were OK, just not normal.
BTW, that was new fluid (5 days old) that I boiled, and older stuff with more moisture in it would boil far quicker.
