No, I was very definitely braking late and hard, with the exception of one corner that is hard to get right. The course is just very demanding on brakes if you want to go fast.
I've done a lot of high-speed autocrossing, some rallying, and driven open wheel race cars on the track, so I'm not new to the dynamics and physics involved. And yeah, hills do add a new dynamic. At NHMS there's a downhill left hand hairpin that climbs to a fast right-hander. It's a lot of fun as there's a lot of sliding involved and once you nail the line it's really sweet, like carving a turn at 50+ on skis.
Cheers!
