So one of my neighbors, who I’ve never met, knocked on my door tonight and sternly told me that I drive “way too fast” through our neighborhood. I kept things very civil and apologized to her if she felt I drive too fast, but basically told her that I didn’t believe I drive too fast through the neighborhood. I also told her that I didn’t sit there and stare at my speedometer the whole time and usually look out for kids, pets, etc. She kept repeating, “Well I think you drive too fast through here”. She also said “When you left (tonight) you were driving fine, but when you came back (tonight) you were driving too fast” (there was a good two hours between when I left and came back). She also implied that she notices me all the time driving too fast. Her final statement to me was that if she saw me driving fast through here again she was going to call the cops!

She does have kids who they let play in the street all the time. In fact tonight when I was coming back in their kids were out in the street, I slowed down and almost came to a complete stop until the kids finally moved out of the way. My wife was also in the car with me and after the fact she didn’t think I was driving too fast and was driving really careful around the kids.

So a couple questions, if she believes I am driving too fast through the neighborhood and calls the cops, can the cops really do anything (or even care) other than maybe knocking on my door and asking me to slow down? And could this be considered a form or harassment? Especially if she’s singling me out? I see other drivers drive though here going about the same pace I do and don’t think she knocks on their doors! Maybe she’s picking me because I drive a Saab? There aren’t any other Saabs, BMW’s, Mercedes, Audi type cars in here! Comments/thoughts?
